How to Create A Happy Face Out of A Sausage
So what’s one the first things you think of when you think about a barbeque?
My usual first thoughts are hamburgers and hot dogs. I feel like that should be basic in a barbeque.
But like do you know whats better than hamburgers and hot dogs?
My preferences are smoked sausages and blood sausages. Especially when you grill them they get enriched with this delicious flavor that is literally out of this world!
I would usually put them in hot dog bun, but like always I didn’t have any in my pantry and since I didn’t want to go to the store just to get some hot dog buns I decided to do something different with them.
Unfortunately, I didn’t have any blood sausages so I just used what I had available.
So after a few moments of scavenging my kitchen and thinking of what I could create to eat with my yummy sausages.
I decided to make some quinoa. Why you ask? Because they are delicious, small, funny looking and it’s not the usual typical rice or pasta and I love to have variety in my food so quinoa was the best decision.
A Brief Explanation of Quinoa
So if you don’t know what quinoa is I’m going to tell you in an easy simple way.
It’s just pretty much another form of rice or couscous in a sense.
A more detailed definition is that it’s a protein-packed grain which contains every amino acid, and is particularly rich in lysine, which promotes healthy tissue growth throughout the body. According to Readers Digest.
So I believe it is a healthier and more delicious option besides rice.
How to Cook Quinoa
Its pretty simple you could follow the same guidelines as to how you would cook rice.
Some people recommend soaking the quinoa for like 5-10 min before cooking and adding half a cup of water more to it, but in my opinion that is just based on preference.
I just wash it clean it up and just do the basic 1 cup of water to 1 cup of quinoa.
I don’t like complicating myself so I keep it simple.
Having Fun While Grilling
So once I had the quinoa cooking I went out sided to grill my sausages.
You know the very first thing I had to do before I started the grill was to set up my music and start jamming out.
So I turned on my speaker and was looking for the perfect song to play as I then I found it!
I started playing Excision Live at Lost Lands 2017.
To be honest it took me a while to actually start grilling because I got captivated by the video and I just sat down and started watching it. The video is so beautiful and creative that I couldn’t take my eyes off of it.
But after I realized I had some work to do I stopped watching the video and started grilling.
I threw the sausages on the grill and started watching the fire get to work.
Once they were fully cooked and grilled on one side I flipped them over and let the same thing happen to the other side.
Once the sausages were all ready and juicy I removed them and got ready to set them on the plate to devour them.
Setting The Plate
Knowing myself I had to design the plate in a kooltacular way.
So after a few moments of thinking how to design my plate the idea came to me.
I grabbed a little container I had, filled it with some quinoa and then placed it on the plate. I did this 2 times.
And then I grabbed a sausage and placed it under the quinoa and can you imagine what I created?
I had created an adorable happy face of quinoa and sausage.
Once it was all set and done on the plate I added a green cilantro base sauce on top of the sausage and quinoa to enhance the flavor and let me tell you it does wonders.
you could also add some hot sauce or any other sauce to your liking.
So there you go an easy simple way to create an amazing delicious meal for you and your family plus in an interesting way to make them laugh.
